Innovative Services for Tourism Workshop - Rome, 20 March 2013

A moment of Prof. Franco Niccolucci's presentation of the Tuscany showcase.

The CreativeCH project, with particular focus on the Tuscan showcase, was presented at a workshop on Innovative services for tourism, organized by the Michael Culture Working Group and held in Rome last March. Michael Culture Association is a not-for-profit organisation, dedicated to cultural heritage valorization, founded in July 2007, created to continue the work on the Michael European portal beyond the period of the EU funding, thus making the network of Michael partners sustainable.

Europe is the number 1 tourist destination in the world and cultural tourism plays a major attraction role, holding around 40% of the entire market. ICT has enabled the development of new services in the field of cultural tourism. Digital tourism offers many opportunities to enrich the visitor experience, as it becomes more connected to social media, geolocated and mobile, contributing at the same time to sustainability, quality and accessibility.

Best practice examples and innovative digital projects were the object of the workshop, which attracted professionals from the fields of Cultural Heritage, tourism, new technologies and innovative services. After an introductory speech by Rossella Caffo, coordinator of Athena + project and Michael Culture Association, the guest speakers, from the Ministries of Culture/Tourism/Communication of Italy, France and Greece, in turn presented innovative experiences combining culture, tourism and ICT (follow the links to view the videos of the presentations uploaded to vimeo.com by Michael Culture):
