High school students commissioned to develop a guided tour app for Terrassa

Torre del Palau High School students have taken a step forward in communicating cultural heritage with novel ICT solutions such as smartphones applications. With the support of mNACTEC and under CreativeCH project, about 50 students aged 13-16 years old are designing an interactive itinerary around the industrial heritage sites of Terrassa.

The project is highly participative and collaborative. After evaluating the online presence of the suggested sites, the students are outlining the app contents (audio, image, text, etc.). Experts such Eusebi Casanelles, Director of mNACTEC, and Domènech Ferran, Director of Terrassa Museum, are responsible of giving guidelines to the students and ensuring historical accuracy.

Encouraging young people to engage in the cooperation among Science and Technology, Cultural Heritage and Cultural and Creative Industries is a core objective of CreativeCH. According to Evaristo González, Torre del Palau High School principal, “the project is both an enriching experience for his students and a valuable benefit for Terrassa in terms of its local development”.
