Preparation for the fool's wedding (the bargain)

The festival represents the end of the winter and beginning of spring (celebrated first day of Easter's fasting period). It is one of the most awaited events in rural Banat region, symbolizing the beginning of agricultural activities and abandonment of winter's rest. It has a social role as well, serving as a mechanism for getting rid of tensions accumulated during the winter, by simulating a "fool"s wedding, where all members of the community participate.
