Evaristo González, Torre del Palau High School principal was invited by the ICT Area of the Department of Education, co-organiser of the event, to the workshop Mobilising schools: The M-learning challenge of Catalonia, held under the framework of the Mobile World Congress 2013. On the 28th February, the international panel brought together leading practitioners from the education field with education policy influencers, with the purpose of sharing their experience with mobile learning and mobile education.
The workshop explored some of the key topics on the field. Besides, attendees had the opportunity to experiment with multiple educational technology solutions, were judges at the Global Business School Competition “Best Educational App” and watched the winning videos of the Mobile Learning Awards, an initiative of the Mobile World Capital Foundation in co-operation with the Catalan Government and Barcelona City Council.
In connection to a presentation of a similar initiative carried out in Singapore, Mr. González took the opportunity to present, among more than a hundred mobile experts from around the world, the participation of Torre del Palau students in CreativeCH. Both panellists and participants showed interest in the initiative, considering it an excellent way to increase the use of technology in order to better engage students, improve their learning and reduce drop-out rates.
Mobile World Congress is the largest annual event in the mobile industry and is organised by GSMA, an association of mobile operators and related companies devoted to supporting the standardising, deployment and promotion of the GSM mobile telephone system.
